SALKANTAY MACHUPICCHU
ALTERNATIVE INCA TRAIL
5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS
An ancient and remote path in the same area as the Inca Trail, however less visited but with much more spectacular views. This trek is an excellent choice for those who wish to escape the more congested routes and a faster way, or those who are looking for an alternative when the Inca Trail this traditional congested. You can see the change of the various floors organic, from subtropical areas and stunning peaks and glaciers, to reach the Lost City of the Incas, Machupicchu.
ITINERARY:
DAY 1: CUSCO – SORAYPAMPA
We start from the city of Cusco early on a journey of 3 ½ hours to Mollepata and then start the hike to Challa Cancha and in the afternoon continue until Soraypampa instead of our first camp.
DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA – HUAYRACMACHAY
After a good breakfast we prepare to undertake the more difficult the trek walk out at 07:00 am we travel all over the place called Pampas Salkantay then drive to the left side of the mountain Umantay which is next to Salkantay snow, 12:00 pm We will be at the highest point - Step Salkantay Umantay to 4,500 m. - At this site we look at the mountains and glaciers of Salkantay and appreciate the magnificent view of the falling snow avalanches and then descend to Huayracmachay campsite.
DAY 3: HUAYRACMACHAY – LLUSKAMAYO
This day will be unforgettable because along the way we will see a wealth of flora and fauna, based on Huayracmachay will pass through the community of Arranniyuc and we descend into the jungle, where we will see the formation of thermal waters in a small valley, then follow the course of the river Santa Teresa, noting in this section several varieties of orchids and waterfalls of great magnitude, we finally reached our camp the place called Lluskamayo.
DAY 4: LLUSKAMAYO – AGUAS CALIENTES
Depart in the morning in the middle of the jungle to appreciate a wide variety of crops including coffee, bananas, avocado, pineapple and most interesting is to see some crops of coca leaves, grass sacred to the Incas, reaching Sahuayaco and down a dirt road as we descend we will also have a view of an unusual angle Machupicchu, we decline to reach the Hidroelectrica where we board the train that takes us to Aguas Calientes where to spend the night in a hotel.
DAY 5: MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO
This day will be dedicated only to visit the wonder of Machu Picchu after taking the tour guide also enough time to explore on our own and in the evening board the train back to Cusco.
